Driving under the influence charges stem from fatal crash

Sometimes people do not think about how their actions could impact others. While some actions may have little effect on another person, others could prove life-changing for everyone involved. For instance, if a person is suspected of driving under the influence and a car accident occurs, many lives could be affected.

It was recently reported that one man in Florida is currently facing criminal charges relating to a fatal car accident. The crash took place in February and involved two vehicles. Apparently, a man was driving south in the northbound lanes of a roadway at approximately 1:45 a.m. when his vehicle collided head-on with another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was reported as being a 39-year-old father.

The father ended up suffering fatal injuries as a result of the crash, and the other driver was seriously injured. Authorities suspected that the wrong-way driver was intoxicated at the time of the incident. Charges were not immediately filed against the surviving driver as the investigation was still underway. However, the man was recently taken into custody at his home and is facing charges for DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide.

This man undoubtedly did not want his actions to have such negative repercussions. Nonetheless, he must contend with the criminal charges for driving under the influence that he now faces. In order to approach his case in the best manner possible, he may want to better understand how such criminal cases are handled in Florida court and what available criminal defense options he may have.
